About the International Summer Course
A flagship international academic program by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sebelas Maret, connecting the global agricultural science community with Indonesia’s vibrant tropical agricultural heritage.
What Is the UNS International Summer Course?
The UNS International Summer Course is an annual short-course program organized by the Faculty of Agriculture (Fakultas Pertanian), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Surakarta, Indonesia. Launched in 2024 as part of FP UNS’s commitment to internationalization and global academic collaboration, the program brings together university students and early-career researchers from around the world for an intensive, interdisciplinary exploration of tropical agricultural science.
Each edition focuses on a specific thematic area within the broader fields of plant science, sustainable agriculture, food security, and agroecosystem management. Participants engage in a carefully structured combination of expert-led lectures, hands-on laboratory sessions, guided field visits to agricultural sites in Central Java, and collaborative group projects — all delivered in English and designed to build both scientific competency and international academic networks.
The program draws on UNS’s extensive partnerships with universities in Asia, Europe, and beyond, with visiting lecturers and co-organizing partners contributing to an enriched, globally-oriented curriculum that goes well beyond what any single institution could offer alone.
